Diarioinformacion.es online newspaper publishes today an article titled “The manual cleaning makes possible Spanish coast beaches to grow by more than five meters” (spanish). This is a beta test involving the regeneration of the beaches through the use of manual cleaning techniques, which unlike the traditional mechanical cleaning, can create life on the beaches and thus expand sand surface in a natural way.

This test was conducted in Guardamar del Segura (Alicante) a city distinguished by a coastline of 11 kilometres in length shaped by fine golden sandy beaches. This experience has been underway since November 2008 and consists to avoid the use of mechanical means for cleaning the beach. The natural response to this test has been higher setting of the sand in the dry area through the creation of small dunes and a compaction of the wetland due to a natural layer of salt. As a result the surface of sand has grown more than 5 meters since.
